When I began writing my first book, I was thrown into a new world, the world of marketing. I am a writer, not a marketer, and yet it seemed marketing was to be as big a part of my new calling as the actual writing was. I took in as much advice as possible, implemented multiple strategies to increase my reach and exhausted myself in trying to understand the market.

Five years and six books later, I have finally reached the end of that struggle with the realization that my books may not be intended for a mass audience and that’s okay. I write picture books and novels for children and young adults. That is my focus.

Whether my books reach thousands or a select few, my goal is the same. I want to inspire readers to consider the gifts, talents, interests, and passions they have and think about how they can use them to find their purpose as I have found mine.

  1. What a great thing to realize and it’s so wonderful you found your passion and the time to live through it. What I found scary to think about, too, is how different marketing is from selling.

Keep going as someone is looking up to you and learning how to live through creativity and prose!
