Homeschooling is experiencing a boom in North America. There is a whole new generation of parents taking on the task of educating their children but where do they find curriculum?

There are many ways to homeschool kids as well as established curriculum providers for different styles of home education. New homeschooling families may find there are just too many options. They are spoiled for choice and it can be difficult to weed through all the information available.

When it comes to reading, I can personally recommend one small publisher, Chicken Scratch Books. When I was homeschooling my now grown children, I struggled to find relatable stories that reflected our traditional values. My kids loved the old classics but couldn’t relate to the characters.

These books are classics for a reason. You can count on wholesome plots where the family unit is important, where honesty, kindness, courage, compassion and determination are upheld. The problem isn’t in the plot but in the modern reader being able to relate to kids from long ago.

Several years ago, I began writing novels and found a wonderful middle-grade publisher. As I looked over their backlist, I saw books that I wish I’d had for my own children. I now have two books published with them.

The Space Between Us is my second book with Chicken Scratch Books. It’s a mystery about a missing horse, secrets and family ties.
