Beyond the veil of grief

Our society prizes the young, youthful beauty, supposed innocence, unlined and unmarked faces. But, if you look into an old person’s eyes, if you wait and if you have patience, there beyond the drooping lids, missing eyelashes, unruly brows and crows feet, if you look deeply you’ll find that person, that soul, is still there.

Beneath years of life, beyond the veil of grief and tears, the miracle of that unique life God was pleased to set upon the earth for His purposes still exists. Still as vibrant and as precious. Be still. Look deeply.

There, in those eyes, you will find true and lasting beauty that has withstood a lifetime of pain and yet shines a light into our dark world. There you will find that most sought-after treasure: wisdom.
